Hey amazing ELA 9!
Glad you're here, hope you're ready for the mid-unit test tomorrow! In case you'd like a bit of a head start, the following are the long answer questions that are going to be on your exam tomorrow! These are 7 mark questions (1 for spelling/grammar, 2 for intro and conclusion, 2 for quote examples, and 2 for explanation/connection to the question). You only need to complete three of these on the exam, so choose whichever you feel most confident in answering! 37. Explain the Gamemakers' role and how they control the Hunger Games. 38. What are the rooms in the Capitol like? How are they compared to what we’ve seen of District 12? 39. How is Panem an “oppressive” country? 40. What kinds of strategies do you believe are most effective in an interview? Is there any sort of angle the Capitol might be more likely to fall for? 41. Is it savage to watch people kill each other on television? What does the popularity of the Hunger Games say about the people who watch it? 42. Is the reaping a fair process for everyone? Why or why not? See you in Period 4! ~Ms. Mackey PS Tell me who your favorite character is and why on the last page of your test (underneath the long answer section) for a bonus point! ;)

Hey sunflowers, hope you're all having an amazing day! I'm super hyped for your presentations today! Hopefully you all used your time wisely both in and outside of class to make them awesome! In other news, since it's Monday, you all get a new Hunger Games Reading Check Package! And as per usual, I've attached it to this post so you can access it as needed! You should also hand in your 11-15 package today, so I can mark it and hand it back prior to your test! We will be doing some test prep tomorrow so it would be in your best interest to have access to your completed and checked answers! Looking forward to today's class! ~Ms. Mackey

Hey ELA 9!
Starting next week, we will be doing a group project! In light of this, our seating will be rearranged around the group makeup! If you would like to have some say in your group, as well as who you will be sitting by for the next while, make sure you fill out the google form, linked below! While I will not guarantee that you will end up with the people you suggest, I will keep it in mind as I am deciding the groups. Fill this form out by tonight, as the changes go into effect TOMORROW! https://forms.gle/X1uLwSa7ekUgMjJTA Have an amazing day!! ~Ms. Mackey Good morning ELA 9! I've attached the map and map criteria which are to be covered during today's class. if you would like access to the slideshow presentation, let me know. Please note that this assignment is due tomorrow (September 25th) at the end of class, or it can be handed in at the beginning of Thursday's class. Looking forward to class today! :) -Ms. Mackey
Hey there Dandelions! Attached to this post is the handout for Chapters 6-10, to be completed by September 30th! Keep in mind that this worksheet is meant to cover all 5 chapters; hence, sections such as 'Chapter Events' should cover each chapter. (5 events total at minimum; maybe more if a chapter is jam-packed with important details) Questions from these worksheet packages will be drawn from to use on your test, so complete it to the very best of your abilities!! I've also attached the notes we went over today on the themes, symbols, and character motivations present in the novel. Again, this is material you will likely see on the test, as well as in future assignments. Have an amazing Monday! And enjoy the low quality meme! ~Ms. Mackey
I've attached the documents for the two handouts during today's class. Please keep in mind that the Token Assignment will be due on Monday September 23rd. The Fishbowl Handout is for you to keep. While you will be using it during Friday's Fishbowl session, some of the questions may also appear on our mid-unit exam. hence, you should keep it for study purposes and print out a new copy if it is misplaced. Thank you all for being amazing! ~Ms. Mackey
Awesome afternoon ELA 9!
I've attached the link to a google doc containing character notes based off of our in class discussions. This will be updated as we continue to read through the story. Please access as needed for assignments! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VC5ckPsTGbKf6N2p7UOW2EOjDlQwdnkoX2FDFPY2CvQ/edit?usp=sharing ~Ms Mackey Good afternoon ELA 9! I've attached the latest assignment to this post -> the packet for The Hunger Games Ch 1-5. This is an assignment that will need to be handed in, so please print out a new copy or request one from myself if you happen to misplace your own. I'll also attach a picture of the brainstorm columns from today's class, as a resource for when we get to our mid-unit and unit tests! It's a bit hard to see (curse the light green marker!!) but hopefully if your tune your brightness a bit it'll work fine! Finally, I'm linking the audiobook playlist for you to access. The link directs you to the Chapter 1 reading, which should translate into the playlist as it continues. While it is a good adaptation and useful to some students, the majority seems to prefer not having sound overlay during their reading. Which is totally fine, but if you are someone who needs the adaptation, come chat with me and we will figure something out! Have a wonderful day! -Ms. Mackey PS. Please add to the spotify playlist, hyperlinked in earlier posts :)
